Bonnie Dr. Apparently since no charges were filed. Claims it was "aggressive" towards hisRead More dog?? It will be on the news at 6:00 tonight. Such a shame! We all know they are here in our neighborhood, have been for months!! But yet people still can't take precautions and be proactive. Sad.

Agreed - the homeowner who shot the bear cub is a disgrace. What a nut!

First of all Is this legal???? And where in farmington?

I completely agree that John McGrane is no novice here. In fact, he formerly served as the DirectorRead More of Public Works for Farmington. His background clearly elevates him to one with knowledge and intellect, as an overseer of multiple departments, including the Water Pollution Control Authority. Ironically, a definition of the Public Works Department is, “providing citizens with professional and courteous advice.” Apparently, Mr. McGrane attempted to provide “courteous advice”, but Chairman Foote behaved unprofessional with his immature commentary. I agree with the author here that Mr. Foote owes Mr. McGrane with a PUBLIC APOLOGY. Perhaps the chairmanship should be vacated and appointed to someone else.

Nor any other type of loan. But the truth is that the lenders are the ones with the financialRead More savvy, and consumers are conditioned to believe that if they qualify for credit the bank has determined that they will be able to pay it back. The problem with student loans is that they are given to people who could never otherwise qualify because the government guarantees them. Are those consumers naive or badly informed? Probably, but the statute books of the federal government and all fifty states are planted thick with laws to protect borrowers who lack sophistication. The student loan bubble is no different than the housing bubble. Give people loans for which they are not really qualified so they can buy something they want and you flood the market with cash. In response, the prices of things people want to pay for with their loans (diplomas and houses) skyrocket, the sellers knowing that Uncle Sam will keep pumping more cash into the system. The housing bubble burst and when there are enough people unable to carry the non-dischargable debt they took on to pay $40,000/year tuition the student loan bubble will also burst. Since we taxpayers will be picking up the pieces I am not willing to just say "nobody forced you" and leave it at that.

Two professional, hard working Taxpayers, perhaps if they continue to be employed, pay their taxesRead More and stay off the dole, the Government will see they deserve a break. The Government does have high hopes for their projected revenue (taxes) in the future. “I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.”

Maybe they should not have deferred and chose to overpay the outstanding debt on the student loans.Read More Looks like they make a pretty good buck between them, maybe 150k a year. Tell them to look in a lower price range, maybe they need to work up to the dream home. I did, and so did a lot of the rest of us who paid off their student loans and didn't put it off.

I don't know about the behavior problems but it becomes an excuse to give the children amphetaminesRead More which increases performance in school. Since we live in a school district where performance is everything, you get a lot of parents lining up for the smart pills. As these pills will help anyone get their school work done and will help anyone concentrate. Look even the MLB has noticed an increase in ADHD: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3822193

i have adhd and i do beleive that schools do use that as a excuse for behavior problems.

1. Russia is not a communist state. It's a Nationalist nominal democracy / dictatorship. There isRead More private ownership there the economy there is solidly capitalistic. China is Communist in government but with a capitalist economy. North Korea is nominally a Communist state but in actuality it's a dynastic dictatorship run by one family. Now it's in China's best interest to have a peaceful pacific rim. China is making money hand over fist and it's all because of his inexhaustible labor supply. If a nuclear war hit the Korean peninsula it would be bad for China because it would rock some of China's major trading partners. I don't think China and Russia want to wipe the US off the map. They like having us around just just don't want us to be the only major super power around.
Peter Dinella April 2, 2013 at 07:04 pm
More of the same from communist nations that only wish for our ultimate demise. What do they, theRead More main communist countries (Russia and China), see in the US now? An incredibly weak and ineffective national leader with 3+ more years left. A country bogged down in "going nowhere wars." A country moving toward fiscal collapse. A country that has China as its greatest "stockholder." A country with citizens looking for the gov't to provide them with everything. A country with citizens with have incredibly poor historical perspective (see some of the above comments in this blog). Do you really think Russia and China (who recently met and did nice/nice with each other) are going to let this golden opportunity pass without taking advantage of it? What a great time for a our historical enemies to get us bogged down in a war with North Korea? If we do, wait and see when China make moves on Taiwan. Russia will expedite its military growth and instigate Iranian militancy toward Israel a US ally in the Mideast. That's only the beginning.

Joe, 1. We are not in Iran. 2. We are not fighting in N. Africa. 3. We are in Afghanistan but weRead More are in the process of pulling out and will be leaving some support there. DHS and Drug Cartels are a matter of Border security and have nothing to bellicose threats from North Korea.

Really? So they can start banning sports because of injuries.
Just my opinion April 10, 2013 at 11:22 am
One big issue is even though my child plays school sports she plays travel sports so an injury fromRead More travel might not be recorded as travel and go under school making the study wrong. Many children play outside of school how would they make sure they have proper data. Maybe they should document something that they can be sure that the info they use is correct.
Mike Atkins April 8, 2013 at 07:45 am
@Sean, irrelevant, only because parents think their child is the next great athlete and are willingRead More to pay the thousands of dollars to get them a spot on a team. Typically many of those child athletes would have a difficult time making the HS team without Daddy's money.

Steve I hope this gets to you in time. Don't go on that egg hunt! Apparently you have never seen anRead More Easter egg hunt before. After the egg hunt starting cannon roars, hundreds of undisciplined kids and hooligans rush the field grabbing for everything they can find. Heaven forbid you find and pick up an egg, they will be all over you. You'll be lucky to keep your shoes. Suggest that you and Peaches clutch your valuables and head for the exits ASAP. And by the way do you realize that your magic hat is changing color. Is it due to a natural phenomenon? No one could own that many hats.
aleta April 1, 2013 at 02:47 pm
That was wonderful journalism. Thanks. The printing of articles like that make people realize itsRead More not about just take, take, take. Its about doing less for ones self and more for the next.
Kyle S. Reyes March 29, 2013 at 05:11 pm
Hi Kate, I like that - thanks so much. I'll have to look into it! Shirley Chisholm once said,Read More "service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth." Couldn't put it any better.
Kate Nicholas March 29, 2013 at 04:41 pm
Excellent piece Kyle! In Daniel Pink's new best seller "To Sell is Human" he takes RobertRead More Greenleaf's concept of servant leadership a step further; servant seller. The idea of moving others with an agenda of common good. When we have the best interests of those we lead or sell to as a priority everyone wins.
