Noah Wallace School - Alive with Art and Music

Art and Music - productions from hearts and hands.

The halls of Noah Wallace School come alive with art and music on Wednesday, June 8.  The school's annual ArtsFest showcases the works of students in grades K though 4 through the use of various artistic mediums.

Art work lines the halls and walls of the school. Art Teacher, Avis Turner displays students' work taught throughout the school year which demonstrates various lessons on artists and artistic styles.

Also, don't miss the "chair auction!" Student and staff are invited to create theme-inspired chairs which are prominently featured in the main hallways. The proceeds from this silent auction event benefit the school's Art Department.

Meanwhile, the school gym is filled with beautiful sounds of strings instruments as students in grades 2-4 perform pieces in the traditional Suzuki method of string instrumental. The annual Suzuki Playdown, lead by Ms. Beth Clemmons and accompanied by Music Teacher, Betty Kenyon, provide Noah Wallace  performers the opportunity to play to a proud audience of parents, family and friends. The students perform a variety of pieces with some featured solos.

The ArtsFest/Suzuki concert is a wonderful evening for parents and families to celebrate the artistic endeavors of their children. It also allows students to view the artistic expressions of their friends and classmates.

The Farmington school-based "strings program" was almost lost to budget reductions during budget season. The Town Council's budget was approved on Thursday, May 19 and the strings program remains intact for another year. Another year for the wide-eyes of innocence and hope to learn the beautiful violin or the awesome cello. Another year for new 2nd grade students to enter, for some, the unknown world of string instruments and in depth instruction. Another year for 3rd and 4th graders to demonstrate their progression in the string instruments of their choice.

ArtsFest/Suzuki Playdown are gems in the artistic enrichment crown of the Farmington school system.  If you are a parent of a Noah Wallace student or just a town resident looking for a little inspiration which can be found only through the eyes of a child, we invite you to Noah Wallace on June 8 for a festival for the eyes, ears and sensibilities.
