“Coffee, Tea with MDs and PhDs: A Conversation on the Latest Research and Treatment of Mental Illness” is the title of the annual conference sponsored by the Farmington Valley Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness the University of Connecticut Health Center on Saturday, Oct. 13.
Speakers will include Dr. David C. Steffens, MD, professor and chairman of the department of psychiatry at the University of Connecticut Health Center; Chandra K. Cooper, clinical specialist in psychiatry at Yale-New Haven Hospital’s department of pharmacy; Ralph E. Hoffman, MD, professor of psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine, and Dr. Andy Winokur, professor of psychiatry at Uconn.
They will speak on medications and possible new treatments for schizophrenia and depression.
The conference will be from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the UConn Health Center, 263 Farmington Avenue, in Farmington.
The public is invited, but registration is required. The cost of registration before Oct. 5 is $10 for NAMI members, $20 for nonmembers. After Oct. 5, all registration fees will be $25.
