Avon Chamber's Bring a Non-Member Business event nets 8 new members
This year marked the 10th anniversary of the Avon Chamber of Commerce’s annual Bring A Non-Member Business Event. Farmington Woods Golf Club hosted the Business After Hours social on April 9, with 100 chamber members and guests in attendance.
The club has served as host of the event for the past four years, providing refreshments and hospitality. Several staff members were on hand to welcome all who attended. They even set up a Putting Contest where seasoned golfers and novices alike could try their luck and get a taste for the club’s actual course.
In addition to the networking opportunity this event affords, one reason it sparks so much interest among members and their invited guests is that two prize packages are awarded, one to a member who brings a non-member guest and the other to a guest business that joins the chamber during that night.

Chamber members provide items for the packages, and this year’s contributors included Avon Plumbing & Heating, Avon Self Storage, Boyles Furniture & Rugs, Edible Arrangements Avon/West Hartford, Havens Home Inspection, Mind My Life, Sayward Companies, and The Decor Advantage.
This year 17 chamber members introduced a total of 27 guest businesses to the Avon Chamber, getting a chance to put their business card in the drawing for the prize package. Those who brought multiple guests were eligible to put the corresponding number of cards in the drawing.

Eight guest businesses were able to participate in the drawing after joining the chamber during the event, which set a record. The new chamber members are: Ecolab, Exceptional Life, Madison Capital/Guardian Life Insurance Company, North Forty Road Web Studio, Ocean Essence Therapy, Senior Transitions CT, The Tiger's Eye Co., and WildTree.
The chamber’s 49th Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Golf Club of Avon. Reservations and payments must be made by May 14. For information, visit http://www.avonchamber.com.
