CT Funeral Directors Assn. Offers College Funds for the "Helping" Professions

Calling Farmington-area high school seniors considering a future in one of the “helping professions.” For the 14th consecutive year, the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is accepting applications from all around the state for its college “Family Support Services Scholarship” program. A total of eight $500 college scholarships will be presented – one to a student in each of the State’s eight counties.

CFDA scholarships support graduating high school seniors who are pursuing careers in a profession that provides emotional or medical support for families. This includes counseling, social services, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social work, gerontology, or funeral service.

“The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association created this scholarship program over a decade ago in order to encourage young women and men to follow their dreams and enter careers where they can help people in need,” explains Stephen M. King, CFSP, a licensed funeral director and President of CFDA. “As funeral directors, we value professions that support families, as we do every day when we provide expertise and care to people during their most difficult times."
