Community Corner

Farmington Garden Club and Economic Development Commission Making Farmington Beautiful.

The Farmington Garden Club has partnered with the Farmington Economic Development Commission to bring beautiful summer flowering baskets along the DiPietro Bridge and Unionville Center. Many studies have demonstrated that landscaping is one of the most cost effective tools for improving and sustaining the quality of life, whether in the city, suburbs, or country.  Public and commercial landscapes have a major influence on our environment and on people’s actions and attitudes.  Greening of business districts not only increases community pride and positive perception of an area, but it draws customers to businesses and creates a sense of place that encourages tourism and increased foot traffic.

For the past three years, the successful Holiday Kissing Ball Program has adorned the DiPietro Bridge and Unionville Center during the winter months, we have decided to expand the program and add summer flowering baskets.

The Farmington Garden Club generously supported this expansion by financing all the flowers along the DiPietro Bridge and becoming the Title Sponsor of this year’s beautification program. The flowers will be installed within the next few days and details outlining how to support this program will be available soon. We everyone enjoys the flowers !
