Joshua Sawicki returned to his hometown of Farmington to perform for family and friends at the Sarah Porter Memorial Hall on Saturday, July 19.
Josh is preparing for an international competition called the International Keyboard Institute and Festival this week at Mannes School of Music in Manhattan. The competition selections that Joshua is performing are Prokofiev’s Sonata #7, Four selections by Brahms, Chopin’s Ballade #4 in f minor and the final sonata, opus 111 by Beethoven.
The competition has 20 well known teachers from Europe and the US including Alexander Kobrin the recent Van Cliburn gold medalist. Over 100 pianists from around the world compete in this famous event. Each contestant selects teachers to study with during the week and then they compete with 80 minutes of music at the end of the week.
