Farmington Town Democrats Back Effective State Rep. Mike Demicco for Re-Election

State Representative Mike Demicco (D-21) was unanimously endorsed for re-election to the General Assembly at the caucus of Farmington Democrats on May 27.  Demicco, whose district includes Farmington and Unionville, is a former four-term member of the Farmington Town Council.

Currently in his first term serving in the legislature, Demicco happily accepted the endorsement.  “I’m proud of my record of accomplishment for the residents of Farmington and Unionville, and I look forward to representing them for another two years in the Connecticut General Assembly.”

"Rep. Mike Demicco is a caring, thoughtful, dedicated, and responsive public servant. He works very hard for the benefit of the people of Farmington and Unionville and makes us proud," said Demetrios Giannaros, former Farmington State Representative.

Demicco pledged to be a “stronger voice” for the district at the start of his 2012 campaign two years ago and noted that his legislative record underscores that pledge, where Farmington and Unionville will:

·        Receive an increase of more than $700,000 in Payment-in-Lieu-of-Taxes (PILOT) funding from the State in the upcoming fiscal year (from $2.7 million to $3.5 million)

Demicco’s record on the Town Council included supporting elderly tax relief, education funding, ethics reform and fairness in the town’s sewer code.  As a legislator, he has focused on business growth and job creation, as well as municipal cost savings, efficient delivery of services, and reducing unfunded mandates.

Demicco noted, “This session, Farmington benefitted tremendously from having a seat at the table when state grants were being allocated, and by having a legislator who supports the economic development opportunities that Jackson Labs and the whole bioscience initiative creates.  I will continue to be a strong voice for Farmington and Unionville in the General Assembly.”
