FHS Musicians perform at the Annual Boar's Head Festival in Hartford

On Sunday January 5th, the Farmington High School Women's Ensemble performed at Asylum Hill Congregational Church as the featured morning service musicians during the 47th annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival weekend. The two selections performed were "You Are the New Day" by Lawson and "Exaudi! Laudate!" by Patton.  These two pieces had already been performed by the ensemble this fall, but performing in the church space was a very different acoustical experience.  "You can really hear the sound echo back to you. When you sing something just right, it rings in the room even after you've stopped, it's an amazing feeling" says Emily Mongeon, a senior in the ensemble.  The women were treated to a light brunch after their performance and were able to meet and talk with some audience members about their musicianship and the FHS music program . Rev. Matt Laney, the senior minister of AHCC, commended the students on their outstanding gifts of music and especially thanked them for giving of their time on a weekend to provide service to this community.
