JEKL is proud to announce that it is now the new physical education provider for Farmington Alternative High School for the 2013-2014 school year. JEKL has donated its facility and services due to budgetary restraints the school faces.
The students are bussed down to Around the Horn every Friday morning to participate in their JEKL class, becoming more physically fit while discovering what it really means to maximize their mental and emotional potential. Chris Brennan, director of the program states “Through Just Educate Keep Learning (JEKL), our goal is to give students in the American educational system the skills and ability to maximize their mental, emotional, and physical potential to positively impact their community and the world. Specifically, we will positively impact the students and staff at Farmington Alternative High School through empowerment, giving them the tools to be more mentally aware, emotionally balanced, and physically capable.”
The first class was held on August 30 and has continued through the month of September with great success. “The positive mindsets from the students about physical activity have really improved. They all seem more confident in their physical abilities and their excitement for gym class is outstanding.” states director of FAHS Dr. Mish Kinsella.
The students at FAHS are also involved with several community projects, demonstrating great leadership.
