The Winners of the "Heaviest Haul" Competition for the 17th Annual Town Wide Clean UPAre!!!!!
The Green Efforts Committee would like to thank everyone who helped clean up trash in Farmington for the 17th Annual Town Wide Clean-Up. It was a rainy day but many hardy New Englanders braved the weather and picked up nearly 1000 pounds of trash! It was noted by many of the participants that most of the trash they picked up was liquor bottles, fast food cups, and plastic bags. Congratulations to the winners of the "Heaviest Haul" competition! In the Individual/Family level the winner was the Tencer Family. In the School Group level the winner was the Earth Club of Miss Porters School, in the Civic Organization level the winner was the Democratic Committee of Farmington. Unfortunately we did not have participants from the Business level. We would also like to thank our sponsors: Flatbread of Canton, Highland Park Market, Naples Pizza, Peachwave, and Starbucks for providing food and drink for the event as well as prizes for the competition! Our hope is that one day we will not need a Farmington Clean-Up Day! "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul." ~John Muir (1838–1914)
