Community Corner

Violence & Culture speaker 9/29 at St James

Please join the St. James Parish community in welcoming the Reverend Tracy Johnson-Russell to Farmington for an evening of conversation about her work with at risk youth in New Haven.  In July of 2008, Tracy became the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Your Place Youth Center, a youth outreach ministry of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Your Place strives to give youth of the City a positive alternative to engaging in gang violence. The initiative came from the prayers and tireless work of Empowering Neighborhoods United in Faith (against) Violence (later known as Partner4Peace), made up of a small group of dedicated parishioners of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church who wanted to make a impact on youth violence in Newhallville and greater New Haven.  Tracy is involved in a host of other youth and child based initiatives around the New Haven area and taught for a number of years, as well.  She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Quinnipiac University.  She has served as Vicar at St. Andrew’s, New Haven, since 2004.  The conversation begins at 6:30 in the parish hall of St. James Parish, 3 Mountain Rd., Farmington.  For more information call our office at 860-677-1564.
