Where's Dawn??

Artist Dawn Lombardi is always creating interesting themes for her paintings. Recently known for her series of Farmington’s Main Street homes, as well as scenes from the Farmer’s Market, Lombardi always prefers to paint outdoors.

“I just love to paint outside.  Painting outdoors is like capturing a memory in time," said Lombardi.  "When I work from a photograph, the moment has already been captured.  The light is fixed.  But en plain air (painting outdoors) the light outside is never fixed.  The clouds cover the sun, the sun goes away.  The other day I looked like a bird looking for a good place to nest and was walking around like a nut to find the right spot, carrying my big easel!  The best painter will venture out into the craziest weather to capture those moments. That is exactly what I love to do.”

This fall, Lombardi can be seen setting up her easel in random spots around town. She never knows where’ll end up until that very day - sometimes until the very last minute.

She plans to have quite the collection by the time the last leaf has fallen to the ground and the days grow grayer. Look forward to more details about a Showing from the “Where’s Dawn” collection.  And keep an eye out for the next spot in town she and her easel are set up.
