Local charity organization getting underway on new year of work.

The Farmington Community Chest held its first meeting of the current fiscal year on September 10.  Officers for the board of directors were elected including; Jennifer Hogan, President; Jean Baron, Vice President; Paula Ray, Secretary; and John Vibert, Treasurer.

Farmington Community Chest supports local charities such as the Farmington Food Pantry, Farmington Fuel Bank, Farmington Social Services, Services for the Elderly, Farmington’s Fire Departments, school programs, FOCUS and more.  Additionally, Community Chest sponsors Farmington Cares Day an annual day in June where volunteers assist local residents with home projects.

Funding is predominately from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, however a fundraising drive is currently underway.  This will allow Community Chest to expand and enhance their giving during these difficult economic times.

Farmington Community Chest attended the Unionville Festival, they were the recipient of donations collected by David Salon of Unionville.  The board is most grateful for the support of this local business that recognizes the need to contribute to local charities.

Those interested in donating to Farmington Community Chest may mail checks to PO Box 60, Farmington, CT 06034.  Community Chest can also be contacted via email; communitychestfarmington@gmail.com.
