Farmington Crew Team Going Door-to-Door March 16

High school students will collect nonperishable food donations as well as sell ducks for their annual duck race.

Get ready - on Saturday, March 16, rowers and ducks may be headed your way.

The Farmington High School crew team will be out that day, knocking on doors to collect food for the Farmington Food Pantry as they sell raffle tickets for the annual duck race.

The duck race - when hundreds of yellow rubber duckies are launched into the Farmington River and float to the finish line - takes place precedes the Middle of the Farmington Regatta on Sunday, May 5.

Duck race tickets cost $5 each and proceeds support the FHS crew program. Each ticket purchased is a chance to win one of six prizes:

1st: $1000 VISA gift card

2nd: $500 VISA gift card

3rd: $250 VISA gift card

4th: $150 VISA gift card

5th: $100 VISA gift card

6th: $50 VISA gift card

The duck race and regatta will be held at the boathouse on the Farmington River at Tunxis Mead Park. The duck race will start at 11:30 a.m., with the winners called immediately following. Duck owners not be present to win but are invited to attend the regatta following the race to cheer on the athletes.

Nonperishable food items donated March 16 will be brought to the Farmington Food Pantry to benefit local families.

The crew team will also sell raffle tickets and collect food at Stop & Shop on March 16, 24, and 3. Food donations will be accepted the day of the duck race.
