Farmington Snow Storm Central

The latest information on how the snow storm, dubbed Hercules by the National Weather Service, is impacting schools, roads and businesses.

Farmington students went back to school after winter break this morning, Jan. 2, but went home early due to the impending snow storm.

The storm is expected to dump up to a foot of snow over the next 36-48 hours, according to forecasts.

After-school activities at Farmington Public Schools are canceled as schools close for early dismissals, as well as Farmington Continuing Education. Tunxis Community College was also scheduled to close at 1 p.m. Town offices will close at 3:30 p.m. and reopen at 10 a.m. on Friday. Up-to-date storm information will be posted on the town website.

There is a parking ban on the streets in Farmington through Friday, according to WFSB

According to the town of Farmington, if you own a building or land "bordering a street or public place where there is a paved sidewalk," you must clear any snow, ice and sleet from the sidewalk and layer it with salt and sand within 24 hours or you could be fined for the cost of removal.
