Have You Seen the Farmington Moose?

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection details the latest moose sightings in the Farmington Valley.

Patch asked people at an Avon gas station last week if they'd rather see a moose once in their life or win the $550 million Powerball jackpot. The Simsbury and Barkhamsted people we spoke with opted for the money.

But seeing a moose is still priceless and not everyone can say they've spotted one, so please tell us if you are one of lucky few to see the moose recently seen roaming through Farmington. DEEP previously reported that one was seen on Town Farm Road in Farmington.

Farmington reader Sharon Lee Hartman Morris previously posted on our Facebook page that she spotted a moose in her neighborhood.

"Moose was in my yard at 6:30 am this morning (Basswood Rd) Our 20 lb Bichon Frise frightened it!" she wrote. "Moose ran toward Tasker's neighborhood/ power lines."

Here is a rundown of the latest moose sightings in the Farmington Valley as of Monday, according to Andrew LaBonte, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection wildlife biologist.

Latest Farmington Valley Moose Sightings

  • Avon: May 18 on Country Club Road and Carriage Drive
  • Simsbury: May 17 at the Westminster School campus at 995 Hopmeadow Street, 5 Crestwood Road and the intersection of Hoskins and Ely Lane.
