Hill-Stead Gets State Grant for Energy, Maintenance Projects

State Bond Commission awards $501,000 for Farmington museum.

The State Bond Commission approved $501,500 in bonds Friday to fund energy efficiency improvements and maintenance projects at the Hill-Stead Museum.

According to a press release from House Democrats, projects to be funded by the grant include conversion to natural gas, roof replacement, chimney repairs, completion of a fire suppression system, general repairs and parking lot improvements – many of which would not be possible without state aid, Debra K. Pasquale, the museum's Interim Executive Director, said.

“For non-profit arts institutions like Hill-Stead, completing necessary capital improvement projects like the ones we have planned is only possible with support like this, and we are grateful to Governor Malloy and the State Bond Commission for this crucial funding.”

State Rep. Brian Becker, who represents Farmington, Avon and West Hartford, said the support will help the museum cut costs.

“The energy efficiency upgrades will drive down the museum’s ongoing expenses for years to come,” said Becker, a member of the Energy & Technology Committee.
