Join In on Farmington Town-Wide Clean-Up Day

Town of Farmington Green Efforts Committee carrying on 16-year tradition.

The Farmington Town-Wide Clean-Up Day was initiated 16 years ago by the Farmington Garden Club with the purpose of enhancing the beauty of our town. During this annual event townspeople gather to collect trash along our streets and waterways, and in our parks.

In addition to the Clean-Up, the club has focused on increasing our children’s awareness about the importance of Reducing, Re-using, and Recycling. This was accomplished through donation of books, videos, and the organization of special programs at the area schools.

While the Farmington Garden Club has organized this endeavor in the past, this year the Town of Farmington Green Efforts Committee will be assuming the responsibility of this important tradition.

The Clean-Up will take place Saturday, May 4th. While picking up trash is the responsibility of all members of the community, it can also be fun. We encourage you to organize your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and club members, to participate in the effort to clean up trash in our neighborhoods.

There will be a competition to see which group brings in the most weight in trash. There are four prize categories: Families, Clubs, School Groups, and Businesses. Last year the Farmington Democratic Party, Starbucks, and residents Peter Morse and Mark Ratliff collected record amounts of trash. Can you beat their records?

So gather your teammates and get ready to do some spring cleaning!

There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet. ~Brooke Medicine Eagle
