UConn Health Center to Offer Medication Disposal on Saturday

The drop-off location is at 263 Farmington Ave. in Farmington.

Do you have expired medication or medicine you don't need any more? What should you do with it?

The UConn Health Center is running a free drive-thru medication disposal program on Saturday.

You can dispose of old medication in the academic lobby between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Doing so will "ensure that these medications don’t end up in the water supply or in the hands of anyone other than their intended user," according to a flyer about the program.

"The program will accept expired or no longer needed prescription and over-the-counter drugs; including ointments, inhalers, vitamins, and veterinary medications," the flyer states.

Bring medications in their original bottle or packaging, but cross out personal information. The disposal program will not accept "unknown tablets or capsules," "needles," "medical waste," or "thermometers."
