Rescued Dog Roxy Gives Back to Rescuer

Teresa and Doug Pelham donate proceeds of children's book.

Two days before Christmas, Teresa and Doug Pelham presented Jan Borreil of Emily's Friends Rescue Inc. with a check for almost $5,000 from the proceeds of Teresa's children's book, "Roxy's Forever Home."

The book recounts the story of a little brown dog's journey from starving and sick on the streets of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to her loving forever home in Farmington, Connecticut. Teresa wrote the book to help more homeless dogs like Roxy. The book was inspired by the realization of how much time, care and money it takes to rescue each dog. Many of the rescuers dig deep into their own pockets to cover costs.

Emily's Friends Rescue Inc. is a grassroots group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing homeless companion animals, and is pending the finalization of its official 501c3 status. This donation enables Emily's Friends to start 2013 with a solid foundation and help more animals.
