Students Get a Lesson in Archaeology at Stanley-Whitman House

Jim Vibert teaches fourth-graders at the Stanley-Whitman House.

The Stanley-Whitman House hosted a variety of educational activities to keep kids busy during the February school vacation. Among them were decorating a bird house, sewing, cooking and playing colonial instruments and games for the younger children. Kids 8 to 13 were invited to participate in soap-making, weaving on a loom, hearth-side cooking and learning about architecture. On Thursday, the older group learned about archaeology, digging out and cleaning off colonial findings such as horseshoes and pieces of pottery.
