Three Farmington Boy Scouts Attending National Jamboree

On Sunday, July 15, three Boy Scouts from Farmington's Troop 68 left for the 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree.

The trio —  Andrew Kralik, Will Sanford and Eric Carlson — will join approximately 40,000 Scouts, Venturers, volunteers, and staff from across the nation at the new Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.

Located on a sprawling 10,600 acres in West Virginia's world-renowned adventure sports region known as the New River Gorge, the jamboree will take place July 15–24 and will embody the theme “Go Big. Get Wild.” At the event, Scouts will be able to participate in adventures that reinforce the BSA’s commitment to the physical wellness, including more than six miles of zip line challenge courses, 36 miles of mountain bike trails, 13 acres of shooting sports, as well as kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, skateboarding, BMX, and various other activities.

Since the first jamboree was held in 1937, it has become known as the BSA’s most iconic event, providing an opportunity for Scouts to gather together and celebrate Scouting, allowing Scouts from all backgrounds, faiths, and cultures to have experiences and create memories to last throughout their lifetimes.
