UConn Students Complete Coast to Coast for a Cure Cycling Trip

Ride for leukemia research has become a tradition at UConn School of Medicine.

Two UConn students returned to the health center in Farmington Thursday, marking the end of their 4,000-mile cross-country bike ride for leukemia research.

The annual Coast to Coast for a Cure cycling trip is a tradition among UConn students, started in 2006, according to an article on UConn Today.

But this year’s team, UConn dental student Dan Beauvais and UConn medical student Pat Field set a record, completing the ride in six weeks and a day.

Coast to Coast for a Cure raises money for Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research, a Hartford nonprofit and supporter of UConn’s Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The students said the ride was hard – traveling about 100 miles per day with 40 pounds of gear – but eye opening, as well.
