Union School Community Invited to Join Lauren Avezzie Fun Run

Annual fun run honors memory of physical education teacher's daughter, promotes physical activity and school spirit.

The seventh Annual Lauren Avezzie Fun Run at UnionSchool will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Union School cafeteria. This event is open to all Union School students, teachers/staff, parents and alumni.

A bright, beautiful young woman with vast potential and a passion for helping others, Lauren Avezzie is said to have brought joy to all who knew her. Lauren, who was 23 when she died in 2006, was the daughter of Union School physical education teacher David Avezzie. Each year the Union School community comes together to enjoy a fun run in Lauren’s honor.

This event is a way of promoting physical activity, having fun, showing school spirit and a way for Mr. Avezzie and his family to give back to a community that has been so supportive after Lauren’s death in 2006.

Each participant receives a Lauren Avezzie Fun Run T-Shirt, Lauren Avezzie Fun Run Ribbon or medal, an ice cream treat, popcornand a Thank You certificate.
