Help us capture summer in Farmington! The Farmington Libraries are sponsoring a Summer in Farmington Photo Contest that will culminate in a community photography art exhibit. From now until July 31, 2012, the library will be accepting entries from children, teens, and adults. Photos should depict the essence of the summer season in and around town. To enter the summer photography exhibit, email your picture to photos@farmingtonlibraries.org or bring your photo to the adult information desk on the second floor of the main library at 6 Monteith Drive. Please include your name, Farmington Library card number & age. All photos (pending staff review) will be shown in our Community Room photography art exhibit during August.

All photos become property of the Farmington Libraries and may be used for publicity or added to the Farmington Historical Collection.

Prizes will be awarded for: Best in Show, Best Farmington-esque, Best Kid’s Photo, and Best Teen Photo.

The Summer in Farmington Photo Contest is one facet of the Farmington Libraries’ summer programs. Children, teens, or adults wanting to participate in the respective summer programs can create an account through the library web site at http://www.farmingtonlibraries.org/read.htm. Children and teens accumulate points for every book and receive a prize based on the number of books or pages read. Adults log entries for every book read, library program attended, museum pass borrowed, and photo logged, and accumulate points towards prizes. Each adult entry is also recorded and entered into our grand prize drawing at the end of the summer.

For more information please call 860-673-6791 or visit the library’s web site at http://www.farmingtonlibraries.org. The Farmington Library is part of the Farmington Village Green and Library Association.
