Farmington Students to Perform in "Cinderella"

Local kids join students from surrounding towns in New Britain Youth Theater production.

New Britain Youth Theater will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on May 4, 5 and 6 at Jefferson Elementary School in New Britain.

The NBYT production of Cinderella is the world’s most magical fairy tale set to the music and lyrics of Broadway legends Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. This “Getting to Know” title from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Library is adapted specifically for young performers and audiences. The production will be directed by NBYT Executive Artistic Director David Sousa, with musical direction by Anne Collin and choreography by Adrienne Marie.

Cinderella stars children ages 7 through 14 and is appropriate for all ages. The cast of forty-two children has come together from Farmington and New Britain, Avon, Berlin, Bristol, Cheshire, Glastonbury, Hamden, Meriden, Middletown, Newington, North Haven, Plainville, Southington, Thomaston, Torrington, Watertown, Wethersfield, Windsor and Wolcott. The production’s venue, at Jefferson Elementary School located at 140 Horse Plain Road in New Britain near the Farmington border, is a 300-seat community performance space with recent renovations.

Cinderella will be performed on Friday, May 4, at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 5, at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for children, students, and seniors. Special group rates are available for parties of ten or more. Tickets may be reserved by calling New Britain Youth Theater at 860-515-8115 or may be purchased online through a link at www.nbyt.org.
