Avon GameStop Closes

If you pre-ordered anything, like the recently released BioShock Infinite, here's where you should go to pick up your video games.

Two days before the March 26 midnight launch of BioShock Infinite in video game stores nationwide, GameStop in Avon closed its doors.

But if you pre-ordered or ordered any games or merchandise through the Avon store, don't worry. All orders have been transferred to the GameStop at the Westfarms Mall in Farmington, so you can pick them up there, store officials said. Gift cards will be honored at all GameStop locations.

The Avon GameStop was tucked in between Cosi and Pier 1 Imports in The Shops at Dale Corners near the Route 44 and Dale Road intersection. It's not clear which business will move into that storefront.

Company employees were there Wednesday clearing out the store. All of the games were off the shelves in boxes. When asked why the store was closing, store officials declined to comment on the record about the reason.

The Sunday closing surprised some local game enthusiasts who contacted Patch about the news.

The Avon location is the only GameStop closing in the area, store officials said.
