Business Breakfast This Morning, Tip A Cop Tonight

Registration for ESL, GED, citizenship starts tonight

Good morning, Farmington. All the rain we got yesterday has frozen over and coated every surface in a half an inch of ice. Temperatures are expected to stay around 30 degrees today so melting may not be in the future, though there’s a 50 percent chance of more snow. Be careful out there.

Farmington’s Economic Development Commission’s Business and Breakfast series continues today at Farmington Bank headquarters at 8 a.m. with John Patrick of Farmington Bank, John Shemo of Metro Hartford Alliance and Bill Tierney of Small Business Administration. Speakers will discuss resources for small to medium-sized businesses and take questions.

Registration for ESL, GED and citizenship classes begins tonight at Farmington High School in Room 810 at 6 p.m. The classes, offered through the town’s Continuing Education Department are offered free to residents of Farmington and neighboring towns. Registrants should bring photo identification and proof of residency and new students should allow one to two hours of assessment testing.

Tip A Cop will be tonight at George’s Restaurant in Unionville. Residents are invited to have dinner at George’s as the restaurant’s staff is joined by Farmington police officers. Leave a tip to help fund Special Olympics.

Due to the threat of yet another winter storm, the Teen Battle Chef District Competition scheduled for Saturday has been moved to the snow date of Jan. 29. The event will feature teams of students from Farmington and nearby towns and will be held in Simsbury.
