CL&P Cancels Tree-trimming Contract In Wake of Accidents

Following two serious on-the-job accidents that left workers injured, Northeast Utilities has canceled all of its New England contracts with Trees, Inc., the company whose workers were injured and killed.

According to NBC Connecticut, the contract cancellation comes following the June 23 collision of an Amtrak train with a tree-trimming truck and wood chipper on Norton Lane in Berlin, injuring five people.

About 10 days earlier, a Trees, Inc. worker was killed while cutting trees for Connecticut Light & Power in Meriden.
