Rarely do Connecticut residents catch themselves saying, “At least we don’t live in Hawaii,” but that might be the case after perusing Money-Rates.com’s list of the Best and Worst States to Make a Living 2014.
Connecticut was ranked the fifth-worst state to make a living, with Rhode Island, Mississippi, New York and Hawaii the only states scoring worse.
The rankings were based a metric that weighed average salary, cost of living, employment rate and workplace conditions.
Connecticut fell nine places since last year’s list, Money-Rates reported, because of high costs of living, high unemployment and poor workplace conditions.
