Pulling together Census data on the number of businesses, total reported annual payrolls and the number of paid employees, we’ve compiled a list of the top-paying communities in Connecticut.

The ranking in the list above shows the communities with businesses paying the highest average salaries (annual payroll divided by total employees) and the list below has the towns with the fewest high-paying jobs.

(Multiple zip codes within cities are combined, however distinct areas, such as Southport and Voluntown, are ranked independently of their greater metropolitan areas.)

Lower Fairfield County towns make up most of the Top 16 and the southeast of the state ranks among the top-paying counties in the nation, coming in at No. 5. Check out an interactive map of counties with the best-paying jobs here.

Another stupid article full of misleading data. Middle Haddam only has 9 businesses all located in the same strip mall and a couple gas stations. All min wage jobs except for owners. Of course Fairfield county has the high paying financial/hedge fund jobs. Those darn Dunkin Donuts in Darien, Westport and Fairfield are bringing them down...

More meaningless statistics from the patch. It's what we have come to expect.

Good thing this was not printed in the paper - what a wast of ink and paper it would be!

If you live in Greenwich, Cos Cob or Riverside, you know many of the folks in Old Greenwich think they are a separate town. Last I checked they are a community within Greenwich. Yes, we have multiple zip codes but Greenwich is not a city.
