Farmington Bank's Turkey and a Twenty Drive Today

Bank also donated to local food pantries; will match monetary donations.

Food banks around the area are scrambling in these last few days before Thanksgiving to muster the money and donations to make the holiday a reality for hundreds of local families. Farmington Bank is among those helping them get there.

The bank has donated $1,000 to each of nine local food pantries to help replenish foods lost in the aftermath of Storm Alfred and is today hosting its “Turkey and a Twenty” collection at its headquarters.

“In an unprecedented way, the recent storm affected families and food pantries throughout central Connecticut.  It was our goal to respond quickly and meaningfully to help replenish shelves and spirits,” said John J. Patrick, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Farmington Bank.

The food pantries that received $1,000 from Farmington Bank were: Gifts of Love in Avon; Farmington Food Pantry; Plainville Community Food Pantry; Bread For Life in Southington; Zion Lutheran Soup Kitchen in Bristol; West Hartford Food Pantry; Glastonbury Food Bank; Burlington Food and Fuel Bank; and New Britain Food Pantry.

Farmington Bank’s gifts are in addition to the Bank’s current food collection drive at all its 16 branch locations, where they have accepted non-perishable food items and monetary donations.  The program ends today with the “Turkey and Twenty” collection when the public is invited to donate a frozen turkey and $20 for the benefit of Foodshare.  In addition, Farmington Bank will match all monetary contributions up to $5,000.
