Galleria Restaurant Closed After Truck Smashes Into Dining Area

A family celebrating a birthday narrowly escaped injury, according to the Hartford Courant.

Galleria Restaurant was forced to close early Saturday night when a truck suddenly slammed through the restaurant and into the dining room where a family was eating.

No one was seriously injured in the accident, the Hartford Courtant reports, but a family of 12 had to cut their birthday celebration short.

The restaurant owner, Sam Gjonbalaj, told The Courant that Galleria will be closed while repairs are made. A call to the restaurant early Sunday afternoon went unanswered.

Galleria opened in April of 2012 on Spring Lane, and was voted a Farmington Patch Readers' Choice winner that same year.

The Courant reported that the driver of the truck said his foot slipped from the break to the gas pedal.
