Nassau's Furniture Holding Closing Sale

The business announced it would close the doors of its Avon location.

Nassau's Furniture announced Friday that it's closing in its Avon location after 35 years.

The Route 10 and Route 44 storefront has been sold, but the details were not immediately available, according to Avon Store Manager Simon Berkowitz. However, Nassau's Weekend Warehouse location in South Windsor will remain open.

"As a business we have been extremely fortunate in our Avon store,” David Goldberg, president of Nassau’s Furniture, said in the press release. “It is a great location and the customers in the Farmington Valley have been extremely supportive. I attribute our success over the past three decades to a commitment to customer service and to our employees, who have been marvelous store ambassadors."

"He’s going to concentrate more on his other store in South Windsor," Berkowitz said.

A closing date has not been announced at this time, but Berkowitz said that the Avon business has until April to clear out its current merchandise.

“We’re inviting everyone to come in and take advantage. It’s an opportunity to get quality furniture at discounted prices," Berkowitz said. "The response has been good. People have been great in this area. They’ve been pretty supportive, so we’re pretty excited.”

Furniture designs like Drexel-Heritage, Lane, Sherrill, Lexington, Ekornes and Theodore Alexander are among the many brands that have been available at the Avon showroom, according to the press release. Store specialties also include "premium bed lines" and oriental rugs, the release stated.

Avon employees have been offered jobs at the South Windsor location, said Berkowitz, who has been working there for about a year.

Customer service needed for products purchased from the Avon store will be available at the Weekend Warehouse once the Waterville Road location closes. Items recently ordered will be delivered, the press release stated.

Nassau's Furniture is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The store is located at 15 Waterville Rd. in Avon.
