“We truly believe in the ‘client first’ approach, which means having a precision focus on our client’s objectives, both personally and financially,” Mezheritskiy said. “We believe in having a comprehensive financial plan along with a sound investment strategy that focuses on growing and protecting our clients’ assets.”
The partners met when they were both working for Fidelity Investments in Boston. Mezheritskiy later relocated to Fidelity’s West Hartford office. After first living in Simsbury, he moved to Avon where he now lives with his wife, Nelly, and their three children. Visionary’s local office is at 321 Main St., Farmington.
“We believe we have a unique approach, which is why we’re called ‘Visionary,’” Mezheritskiy said. “The goal of our investment strategy is to attempt to mitigate risk while maximizing return. We do not believe in the strategy used by name financial companies, where you are being told that you should diversify between different asset classes, since we don't know what will go up or down, just buy everything and hold on. This strategy might work in the bull market but we believe it will erase all the gains and more in the bear market, like 2008. We believe this is a way for financial companies to maximize profitability for themselves but not for their clients.
“We seek to invest in sectors that we believe are expected to outperform and avoid sectors that we believe are expected to underperform. Our ultimate objective is to participate in rising markets with the potential to outperform in the down markets by actively managing the portfolio. In addition to that, we have the ability to preserve capital by building and holding ‘cash’ in times of extreme market declines, such as 2008.”
He explained that many financial advisors wear two hats as both planner and money manager for a client’s portfolio, which makes it difficult to grow the client’s business and at the same time, pay needed daily attention to the portfolio.
“Markets can change in a second, and we believe you should have someone watching your portfolio at all times,” Mezheritskiy said. “This is why the client pays a fee. At Visionary, we believe our approach is better. It is my responsibility to promote the brand and grow our company, as well as to meet with clients and design financial plans, where Edward is a very experienced portfolio manager. His job is to stay in his office and keep an eye on all seven of his computer monitors and monitor market developments.”
Visionary is in partnership with LPL Financial, he said, which means “clients can rest assured knowing that we have one of the largest independent broker dealers in the nation* supervising, monitoring, and serving as custodian for their assets.”
During his 13 years at Fidelity Investments, Mezheritskiy was responsible for overseeing $400 million worth of client assets, specializing in management, retention, and development of Fidelity’s highest net worth clients. Most recently he served there as Vice President Sr. Account Executive.
Romanowsky lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Anja, and their four children. The majority of his time is spent researching the markets and talking with clients about their financial situation.
“After speaking with Edward for just a few minutes you can feel his passion around the markets and the word that will likely come to mind about him is ‘scientist’,” Mezheritskiy said.
Whether a client is a high net worth family, corporate executive, institution, or individual retiree, Visionary will deliver the critical experience needed, taking a solution-oriented approach and offering sound, objective advice, he said.
“The foundation of our company is built on loyalty and client satisfaction,” Mezheritskiy said. “We do not look at our clients, as clients, we look at them as family. We want to be their financial partner for life and we work very hard for them.”
