The Theatere Guild of Simsbury's production of The Music Man Rehearsal Update

MARCELLUS WASHBURN AND THE SHIPOOI TEEN DANCERS RIP IT UP

In an evening of rehearsal where all was not initially going right, Marcellus Washburn played by Nick Parisi and his teen deancers lit up the evening with a rousing performance of Shipoopi.

All was not right when the cast and crew arrived at Eno Hall last night.  The auditorium was erroneously booked and staged for another event.  On the fly, the cast moved into the basement and commenced dance rehearsal in a space not much larger than a University of Connecticut dorm room.  Fortunately, the cast remained focused under these conditions.

Eventually, the cast and crew were permitted to use the auditorium but they still had to work around twenty large banquet tables.  It was well after 9:30 when the cast could start really rehearsing.  Initially, the entire team walked through various portions of the dance routines, no easy task that late in the evening.

It was then that Mr. Parisi was allowed to unleash his inner Marcellus.  And wow, what a Marcellus he did.  The entire cast was instantly re-energized by his performance. By the time the cast finished at 10:15, even Eno Hall's maintenance worker was overheard humming the music to Shipoopi.
