Is your sons brain developing slowly?

The Brain of your teen son.

Do parents notice more what their teen son is doing “right” or when they are in “trouble” or in “danger”?

According to National Geographic teens are a “work in progress,” and have “immature brains”.  Studies reveal the reasons why teens might be kicking and crying one day, happy the next, burping at dinner, but then have a perfect Tuesday, is because teenagers are in the process of learning how to use their brain functions. Almost anything can create a meltdown. It is a roller-coaster ride of growth that takes time. With good role models and patience there is a good chance everything will be more than fine.

But realize, the teenage brain is slowly developing and can even affect a lot of things such as how they learn. If your teen is having a hard time in math or biology class, it might be because their brain has yet to fully comprehend the reasoning of the material. I think that is very normal.

Again, every person learns differently at different speeds and this is important for parents and the teen to understand. Your son might even believe he is “stupid”, but it’s certainly not the case. I recommend giving him confidence by talking about his strengths and reminding him that things take time. Say something like, “I know you’re growing into a successful man. I believe in you.”
