CL&P Estimates Farmington Will Have Power Sunday by Midnight

Company maintains goal of providing estimates by today, power by Sunday.

Connecticut Light and Power posted its restoration estimates this morning, as promised in an effort to keep residents informed. The utility company projects that 99 percent of Farmington will have power restored by Sunday at midnight.

CL&P officials said yesterday it plans to keep to its original estimate of restoring power to the state by Sunday.

In the meantime, Farmington schools are closed through Friday. The shelter at Farmington High School remains open.

Several CL&P crews are in town, both from Connecticut and from unaffected area across the country. Tree service companies have also been assisting in clearing trees and debris from around lines in preparation for restoration.

Power was restored to a few residents Tuesday when for the first time, the number of outages in town decreased, back down to 96 percent. Since the storm the number had been increasing. About 200 customers in the East Farms area of town do have power.

Gas stations also reopened in the area, though not in Farmington, as power was restored on Route 44 and in parts of surrounding towns. CL&P is working to restore power to priority areas first. That work begins with repairing substations.
