Dear Readers,
Patch exists for you and we want to hear what you have to say. Many times, what you add to a story is equally valuable as what I have to say. We provide the platform and you share your experiences, insight and opinions. Patch readers routinely help inform the community and change minds.
Obviously what's said is only as credible as the person saying it. A wild accusation or criticism from an anonymous person is useless — and won't be allowed on Patch anyway. We want you to feel secure in posting under your real name, knowing that you will not be vulnerable to personal attacks and disrespect. And we know people are more likely to be polite and appropriate instead of ugly and mean when they use their real name. So we ask you to use your real name.

There are a number of avenues for you to be heard on Patch. You are welcome to write a letter to the editor — maybe sharing your opinion, endorsing a candidate or giving a note of thanks. You can post an announcement about an event or issue. You can also (please do!) put events on our calendar to let people know about games, fundraisers, open houses, tag sales, etc.
And of course, you can comment.

One exception I have just instituted is a prohibition on comments on letters to the editor. If you'd like to respond to a letter to the editor or express an opposing viewpoint, please submit your own letter and we will be happy to publish it — provided it is polite, appropriate and free of personal attacks.
Thanks. We can't wait to hear what you have to say because Patch is for you and about our town.
