Gov. Dannel Malloy is asking Connecticut residents to observe a moment of silence on Friday exactly one week after a gunman at a Newtown elementary school killed 26 people.
According to the Associated Press, Malloy is asking churches to ring their bells 26 times at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning. He asked residents to observe a moment of silence during this time.
Police say 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, before killing 26 people - including 20 children - at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. The gunman then committed suicide at the scene.
