Great Escape: Warm Up Your Swing

Get some practice at the driving range before the golf courses open for the season.

Now that the flood waters have receded, grass can be seen on local golf courses, and soon golfers will be, too.

After what seemed like the longest winter on record, springtime is finally here, and golfers can’t wait to dust off their clubs. The snow has melted on our local golf courses, and many will be opening soon. Most golfers would probably benefit from hitting a few buckets of balls before teeing off, and we recommend hitting the green for this week’s “Great Escape.”

In Farmington, the Westwoods range will open this week. When the course itself will open depends on how it dries out afer the recent flooding. The Westwoods Golf Course, owned by the town of Farmington is an 18-hole course on a 4,400 yard layout. It's affordable and said to be an inexpensive way for seniors and children especially to enjoy golf. For more information call (860) 675-2548.
