Owner of Lost Dog Offers Reward

Sass, a small white dog, is still missing from Unionville and possibly trying to return home near Miss Porter's.

A Farmington woman is still searching frantically for a small white dog, called Sass, and now she's asking for help and offering a reward.

Amy Rogers, who lives in town, said Sass disappeared from the Unionville area Thursday and she has been chasing sightings ever since. She was first seen somewhere in Unionville and most recently at Dunning Sand and Gravel on Brickyard Road a few miles away.

"I'm there now, calling my heart out. If she follows her pattern, she will now hunker down after that encounter with strangers, so tomorrow's search will focus around here. Early morning hours are key. If you're not up at dawn, please join at 4 Mountain at 8:30 to plan search areas, or just come by any time during the day. All necessary info is on the porch," Rogers wrote on a Facebook group page, Sass is Missing, where updates have been posted.

Rogers is asking for people to help join the search, pass out flyers and spread the word electronically. She is offering a $1,000 for the safe return of her dog, whom she describes as 11 pounds and timid.

"Sass is scared, but by now hopefully hungry. She will bolt if approached too aggressively, so gentle and with food is the way to go. She is a bit more comfortable with women than men, if you have a mixed gender search group and happen to see her," Rogers wrote in an email Saturday morning.
