Safety Tips

  • Treat all down wires as being live and keep a safe distance
  • Never leave candles or open flames unattended
  • Generators should be kept outside or properly ventilated
  • Use caution with space heaters – keep away from combustibles
  • Open damper when using fire place and burn only appropriate materials

Sewage Grinder Pumps

Residents who use sewage grinder pumps for sanitary sewer disposal should restrict water use (toilets/sinks) unless your pump is tied to an emergency power system.

How long without power?

CLP has advised the Town that residents should expect to be without power for an extended period of time. Town employees and tree crews are working to clear debris from lines and roads and make it safe for line crews to start restoration efforts.

Gas

Until power is restored there will be very limited access to gas stations in Farmington. Route 44 opened Tuesday morning and gas is available there depending on delivery times. Some stations have already run out.
