Winter Carnival Waiting on Weather

Winding Trails events tentatively pushed back on hopes ice, snow will materialize.

' Winter Carnival is a lovely weekend celebration of winter weather with skating on Walton Pond, cross-country skiing, snowbuilding and sledding contests and the Bob Soboleski Memorial Citizens Ski Race.

But the lack of snow and ice will make most of the activities planned for this weekend impossible, Winding Trails director Scott Brown said Wednesday.

The carnival will tentatively be pushed back to next weekend, Feb. 18 and 19. Whether Winding Trails is able to host the carnival will depend on the weather.

A nature walk with Winding Trails naturalists will go on this weekend as planned.
