Day of Tears

A dramatic
reading adapted and directed for the stage by Laurie Maria Cabral.

On March 2
and 3, 1859, the largest auction of slaves in American history took place in
Savannah, Ga. This event is retold from the view of the slave-seller, slaves,
auctioneer and others in very personal and emotional ways that will leave an indelible
impression on the viewer. This production is based on the book, Day of Tears by Julius Lester, who has
granted his permission for this adaptation. All profits benefit Hope Day School
in Sierra Leone, Africa.

The production is Sunday, April 27 at 2 pm in
the Meeting House at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 1652 at 75 Main
Street in Farmington.  Tickets are $12
general admission, $10 for seniors and students. For tickets and further
information, call the church office at 860-677-2601 on Monday through Friday
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or visit the website at www.firstchurch1652.org. Tickets
will be available at the door.
