Christmas Eve Services

Christmas Eve
Family Service – 4:00 pm
Our family service is a fun, joy-filled Christmas celebration designed for the whole family, from the youngest to the oldest. Hear again the age-old story of God’s love stealing into the world and sing the carols that herald the Christ-child’s birth. O Come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, come! The service is led by Reverend Steven Savides and members of the congregation.

Service of Lessons and Carols – 7:00 pm
The Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols, which originated at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England and is now celebrated around the world, is based around several Bible readings which tell the story of the loving purposes of God and God’s presence among us throughout the ages. The choirs sing carols, old and new, and lead the congregation in traditional Christmas hymns and carols, creating a service that overflows with Christmas joy. Featuring First Church’s Senior Choir, Junior Choir, and Bell Choir, the 1 hour and 15 minute service concludes with the cherished tradition of lighting candles and the singing of Silent Night out on the Meetinghouse Green. Childcare is provided for those for whom the service’s length or character is difficult. The service will be led by Minister of Music Edward Clark.

Service of Midnight Chimes, 11 pm
In the silence of this holy night, come and celebrate God’s love streaming into the world. Through readings, reflection, and sacrament, prayer and carols, we will prepare our hearts to welcome again the Prince of Peace. As the chimes herald Christmas Day we will carry the light singing Silent Night, Holy Night. The service will be led by Reverend Steven Savides.
