The Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) will present the first-ever
Black History Parade in Chester on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013
to celebrate Dr.
Martin Luther King and kick-off Black History Month. Chester City and Delaware
County are steeped in rich history and this event will be followed by the Grand
Opening of the Black History exhibit at the Museum of the History of Delaware
County, 408 Avenue of the States in Chester.

at 1 P.M.
from MLK Memorial Park, 620 Engle St. in Chester and ends

   BACKGROUND ON PARTICIPANTS:

        Delaware County Historical
Society
(www.dchs-pa.org)
is the county's oldest established historical society, founded in 1895, that operates Greenbank Farm, 991 Palmers Mill
Road in Marple and the Museum of the History of Delaware County, 408 Avenue
of the States in Chester. The Museum also houses a research library that makes
collections accessible to members and visitors. Research services are also
available. Collections include artifacts, art, books, photographs, postcards,
newspapers, city directories, maps, county histories, business histories, local
high school yearbooks and so much more. DCHS also operates the Passport to History
program in elementary schools throughout the county's 15 school districts that
exposes children to county history and locations. The Black History exhibit
opens Jan. 26th and continues until March, 2013.
