Summer Fun at Farmington Valley Academy Montessori

Registration is now open for Summer Camp at Farmington Valley Academy Montessori in Avon.


Primary Camp is open to children ages 3-5, with half day and full day options. Enjoy arts & crafts, Montessori Academics, gardening, water fun and more.  Full day program included specialized classes with our Science Director Tom Alena and our Music Director Sue Armstrong.


Five sessions: June 24-28, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-August 2

Cost per session for Primary Camp:  $225 Half Day, $450 Full Day


Art Camp with Dita Carley For students 8-13.  Artist and Instructor Dita Carley will spend the week at FVAM and share her talents with our campers. Samples for the week include drawing, mask making, printmaking, painting, bookmaking, collage and mixed media, three-dimensional sculpture, found object assemblage and keep a sketch journal.  Limited enrollment.

Science Camps with Science Director Tom Alena


Session One - Our Wild Weather. For students 6-10.   Become your own weather forecaster!  Learn to analyze radar and satellite maps just like the pros do.  Inside our science lab, we will make real snow crystals, lightning, tornadoes, and clouds. We'll even collect and fossilize raindrops.  Feel the force of a hurricane wind, and make weather instruments to take home and continue tomonitor the weather in the future. Limited Enrollment.


Session Dates:  June 24-28  8:30am to 12:30pm


Cost $250


Session Two - Geology of Connecticut. For students 9 - 13.   Have you ever wanted to identify the rocks and minerals around your home?  Do you wonder how they got they there?  Join us for a week-long adventure exploring the geologic wonders of Connecticut. We'll travel to great sites around the Farmington Valley to hammer and gather specimens, and then use them to make your very own collection to take home!  To top off the week, we'll tour Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill. Limited Enrollment.


Session Dates:  July 8–July 12  8:30am to 12:30pm


Cost: $325 includes field trip
