Farmington High School Chamber Singers perform with the combined choirs and orchestras of the University of Connecticut this evening at 8:00 pm.
The concert includes major works by Beethoven, Schubert and Vaughn Williams. The concert is the culmination of a collaborative project of bringing college professors, college students and high school musicians together in the performance of major choral works. Over 40 FHS musicians perform with 180 vocalists in this event.
The FHS musicians worked with Dr. Jamie Spillaine, Director of Choral Activities at UConn, in choral rehearsals at our high school. Our Chamber Singers traveled to the Storrs campus to rehearse with the college musicians and Maestro Harvey Felder, Director of Orchestral Studies, for the dress rehearsal. Students had opportunities to converse with the college students discussing music and college life.
